ASH have collaborated with graphic artist, Filip Pagowski, to bring you a Special Edition Capsule Collection for AW17. Two popular ASH styles from both women’s and men’s ranges have had an artistic makeover to bring you five bold, fun and iconic styles to add to your collection. About The Artist
Filip Pagowski is a Polish born and educated artist well known for his quirky illustrations. After studying painting, poster design and illustration at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, he moved to New York in the 1980’s to pursue his career as an illustrator, with perhaps the most iconic of his creations being the heart logo which he created for the Comme des Carcon PLAY diffusion line. He has also brought his lighthearted designs to various other fashion houses such as Converse and Diane von Furstenberg, as well as album artwork for Drake and renowned publication The New York Times.
The collaboration began with several iconic, best-selling ASH sneaker styles, which were personally selected by Pagowski as a canvas for his artwork. These are the Pharell and Nicky styles from the women’s collection, and the Nikko and Power styles from the men’s. He then created two very distinct designs for the collection – the more youthful and playful “Flame” and the fashion-forward, graphic “Tweed”.
“I wanted it to be visually interesting, but also surprising, so I developed an artistic look with colours and graphics. I thought the concept of the “Tweed” design would translate well onto a sneaker and liked this idea of playing with various elements that make up the pattern such as the herringbone. In contrast, the “Flame” design is more graphic, with colours of white, black and yellow, and bigger design elements. It covers every square inch of the shoe,” says Pagowski of his creations.
The collection will be available in limited quantities from selected stores and via ashfootwear.co.uk from September 22nd.
