It’s festival season in the UK, kicking off today with the grandest of all – Glastonbury! To combat those Glasto Blues, we’ve pulled together a run down of some of our other favourite festivals throughout the country which are still to come, and even still have tickets available.
Festival’s are our favourite times to show off our summer style, and some festivals even demand fancy dress! Time to don your wellies, floral crowns, boho dresses (and quite probably ponchos!) and dance into the night.
Kicking off on the 10th July, T In The Park takes the festival season way up to north to Strathallan Castle in Scotland. Definitely one for indie music lovers, with headliners including Kasabian, Noel Gallagher and newly reformed The Libertines, but DJ’s like Annie Mac, Above & Beyond and Maya Jane Coles will keep the beats flowing long after the guitars stop strumming.
Latitude Festival kicks off the following week, from the 16th – 19th July, in Henham Park, Suffolk. Latitude is a chilled, animal and family friendly festival celebrating music, art and culture, but it’s definitely not short of a party vibe. With late night DJ Sets within the surrounding woodland and artists such as Caibou and SBTRKT on the bill, this is not one to be missed.
Fast forward to August and V Festival is next on the festival calendar. Set over two locations in Chelmsford and Staffordshire, the acts play each venue over the weekend of the 22nd. With a huge variety of artists to appeal to all tastes, this is a festival for the masses. Headliners include Sam Smith, Calvin Harris and a special appearance by Mr. Tom Jones himself.
Bestival, in our opinion is the next best thing to Glastonbury. An award winning boutique festival set in the beautiful Isle Of Wight, this place is known for it’s good vibes, not to mention it’s yearly themed mass fancy dress party! With hip-hop legend Missy Elliot headlining, as well as masters of electronic music, The Chemical Brothers, you can tell see where the inspiration for it’s name came from.
For those of you living in London like us here at Ash, you’re spoilt for choice with festivals without even leaving the city. Wireless Festival come to Finsbury Park for 3 days from 4th July with showstopping bookings Drake, Avicii and Nicki Minaj. The following weekend sees the third annual Camden Lock Live, with intimate performances across the historical area as well as an overwhelming amount of delicious food. On the 17th and 18th July the crowds will descend on Victoria Park in East London for Lovebox Festival to see the infamous Cypress Hil as well as world class DJ, Bonobo and Swedish foursome Little Dragon.
Now we know that footwear is an important consideration at festivals, what with a high chance of rain, and Port-a-loo’s to navigate, so we would definitely advise ditching those Summer sandals, so if you fancy a break from your wellies, here are our top picks for field appropriate footwear!
